Minority scholarships are available in several colleges in the US. Students from all the ethnicities are eligible for minority scholarships set aside for specific ethnic groups such as Hispanics, African Americans, Latinos among others. The scholarships allow students to study in the US or abroad.

In this article we explore a few institutions that offer minority scholarships and their eligibility criteria. The T Mobile USA Inc and United Negro Fund have jointly offered to give minority scholarships valued at $ 4500 to qualifying students in the coming academic year. To qualify, students will be required to undertake a 12 week internship to gauge their performance. The best students stand a chance of getting a minority scholarship to pursue studies in any of the following courses; accounting and finance, computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunication engineering, human resources and management information system. Other requirements include; the student must be a junior applicant who is enrolled for a four year study program in a university or college and have a minimum grade of 2.5 in 4.0 scale. In addition the student must present transcripts, a letter of recommendation from a community leader and a two page essay detailing his or her goals.
Stanley J. Tarver Memorial Scholarship offers minority scholarship to African American students or any black person pursuing a masters or a doctorate degree in African History and Culture. To be eligible, the student must have completed at least one year of college study in the US.

Another institution that offers minority scholarship is the Surety Industry Scholarship Program for Minority Students. The institution assists students in the areas of insurance, risk management, accounting and finance. The requirement are 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA , completion of a 30 semester hours in their major and being a fulltime undergraduate student in a four year university or college.

Stan Beck Fellowship is a minority scholarship program that funds graduate and undergraduate students in entomology and related disciplines. The program assist student who are physically challenged, needy financially or by virtue of their minority background.
